Why a Colorado T-Shirt?

I love to design things, be it architectural, woodworking, drawing, graphic design, or in this case; t-shirts.  I thoroughly enjoy the process of creating original pieces of art using different medias.

The idea of designing a t-shirt came about when I decided to add a Colorado Flag t-shirt to my wardrobe.  I had the worst luck finding one I’d be proud to wear.  With a graphic design minor, I figured, why not make my own?   I wanted a shirt that represented what I actively love to do, (snowboarding) in my home state.  With that, my first Colorado State Flag shirt was born and I wore it all the time.  Friends and family caught on and liked it so much they wanted one too.  They didn’t all snowboard, which led me to design many different designs available today. I began with skiers and snowboarders and per customers’ requests I created designs with sports, activities, and landmarks, to name a few.

My original design was born from an image I took with a couple close friends standing on top of Union Peak at Copper Mountain, Colorado looking towards Tucker Mountain.  Tucker Mountain’s silhouette has become the iconic mountain in most of our CO Flag designs today.

Why We Do It?

ActiveState Designs was inspired by a simple concept: people love their hobbies and are proud of where they do them.
